Buna S Rubber

Buna S rubber, also known as Styrene rubber, is a synthetic rubber compound comprised of co-polymers styrene and butadiene, which are derived from petroleum sources. Styrene is an organic compound, but butadiene is a synthetic chemical compound. When these polymers react the result is a high-quality synthetic rubber compound.

In processing and performance, Buna S rubber is similar to natural rubber. Characteristics of Buna S rubber include a resistance to water, a resistance to heat (when not severely flexed), and good aging properties. Buna S rubber also can be vulcanized.
